Our Story

Waking up every day to help some of our most vulnerable individuals is not only a service, it is something that I love.  The idea behind Adaptive Behavior Consulting is to provide creative, person-centered approaches to behavior management.  As a consultant, I aspire to use high-quality services to enhance the lives of individual's with needs by encouraging families and professionals to use positive interventions.  And at the societal level, I aim to increase the ability for individuals with needs to find independence, be heard, and accepted.

My mission is to help families, providers, and professionals meet the needs of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities through the management of challenging behaviors and enriching their quality of life.

Meet your consultant

In 2001, I started working in this field.  I still remember the first individual on the Autism spectrum that I (knowingly) met while assisting in a class.  It was also unforgettable how lightly I tip-toed around intervening with this person in those first few months.  Things have drastically changed since then.  Now, I integrate my experiences from working in a variety settings into my interactions with families, professionals, and individual's with needs.

What are these experiences?

I've worked intimately with a wide range of abilities, ages, and ethnic backgrounds.  I spent time working in several development centers, classrooms, and a residential facility for children with emotional and behavior disorders.  In the last 15 years, I've been a camp counselor, intern, provider, treatment team member, teacher, interventionist, and ultimately, a behavior consultant.

In my years at the University of Oregon, I pursued studies that allowed for me to specialize in intervening with individuals with needs.  My undergraduate degree is in Psychology, Family and Human Services, and Special Education.  In my first Master's degree, I studied Conflict and Dispute Resolution, and I am trained in Mediation, Negotiation, Facilitation, and Crisis Intervention.  In my second, I studied Early Childhood Intervention in the School of Special Education.
